Time and time again I am asked “Do i need to get reply cards when ordering my stationery”?
If you don’t get reply cards here is what you have to do:
Under the R.S.V.P. section on your day invitation.
1. You need to give a reply date, which is usually 3 weeks before your wedding.
2. An address ( usually to correspond to the the people who are inviting the guests, i.e if it is your parents inviting it would be their address)
If you want your parents names on top but you want the replies set to your address then put in your name and then the address details.
3. An email is optional. If you are putting one in it is good to create one especially for your wedding date ( i.e bride&groomsNames@gmail.com) or the date of your wedding, or what ever you prefer.
Using your work email can be dangerous as other people might see these emails or more seriously you might delete by accident.
4. A phone no. ( Make sure a voice mail is setup so people can leave messages) Or if you are using your mobile no. It is best you ask people to text name and response. That way you don’t have to reply back and say who is this if someone texts you and says “Look forward to it, thanks for the invite” and then you have to text back because your not sure who sent it.
If you do get reply cards the advantages are stress free for you as a couple as you will get your replies back when you should and there is no chasing up of guests.
For the guests it is stress free for them also as they can reply asap
Especially if you are having a large wedding it is essential to get reply cards.
Having the envelopes printed is an added luxury and it is a beuatiful touch, and looks great ( but remember this feature is optional).
Having stamps on your reply card envelope is a further luxury ( again this feature is optional).
How to keep costs down when getting reply cards.
From past experience some couples have asked us to put a menu choice on their reply cards.
i.e Please tick the box from the following choices of beef, salmon etc.
Apparently some hotels charge alot for this Choice service i.e over a thousand euro and if this price can be cut down the reply cards are worth it for sure.
If you have for example a no. of 300 guests ( 150 invitations approx) that you are inviting to your wedding – you don’t necessarily have to get 150 reply cards.
You know your family on both sides are attending so this no. can be reduced to possibly 100 or 110 depending on family sizes. Think about it when ordering your reply cards, it’s definelty food for thought!
Wild Paper Designs have a Black and White Collection and Antique Collection, we have reply cards to match all our Wedding Stationery Collections but with these collections as they are popular
and we know people want to reduce costs – you have a choice of two reply cards.
The standard reply card with the corresponding image on it with all your details printed on it for
e.g. 50 reply cards( 100 guests) = 95 euro. This looks great with your card.
But if you want to reduce this cost what we are offering now is a plain white /ivory card with your reply details printed on it and your name & address details printed on it also so there is an association to your day and reply cards. So what we have taken out is the image and added your address details. This is a hugh savings for eg 50 reply cards( 100 guests) = 65 euro ( you save 30 euro )
If your wedding is larger the greater the savings.
Let us know if we can help you on this and tell us what your feelings are on sending reply cards with your Wedding Invitations and how you feel when you receive them as a guest to a wedding?
Best wishes
Teresa.
